Beet Juice
I just read an article by Vera Schwaiger. The title was ‘9 Home Remedies for Sore Muscles’ at the top of the list is Beetroot. She mentions a study with 7 “perfectly trained runner” that drank beet juice during a 2 week period said their muscle soreness was significantly reduced after Intense training sessions. Beet juice has also been found to boost stamina, improve blood flow, and help lower blood pressure. Beets are rich in natural chemicals called nitrates. Through a chain reaction, your body changes nitrates into nitric oxide, which helps blood flow. Better blood flow means more nutrients are able to get to the muscles for regeneration. If your taste buds don’t dance to the beat of the beet (so to speak). The other remedies included; caffeine, sour cherries, ginger, tomato juice, fish, turmeric, coconut water, chili and green tea. It is a very personal journey to find the right combination at the right time. Just keep moving and enjoy the journey.
